Porsche 917LH Le Mans 1969
from Proto Slot Kits
Since the announcement on the Proto Homepage, I knew: I must have this racer! So immediately I called the salesman of my
trust and reserved one for me. In the case I would be to late and the beautiful car would be sold out.
Only a few days late the postman rang on the door and gave me my package.

Nice to have the oportunities to build different versions. After a long period of recherge-time I decided to build number
10.
Flashback on 1969
Jacky Ickx slowly crossed the lane on his way to his car to demonstrate against the typical racing-start, where the pilots
have to run over the slope and sometimes start without being belted. 1969 was the last year with this legendary la Mans
start.
Herbert Linge was the teamemate of John Woolfe, who drived the Porsche 917LH with the race number 10. He should absolve the
first Turn... Lilo, his wife, at home watched the live commentatorship in tv...
GIn Tv, even after the start, they showed this Porsche crashing into the wall and standing in flames. Everybody is shocked.
The nerrator emphasized that against the primarily plan Woolfe drived in place of Herbert Linge... he raged into death.

Only one year later Herbert Linge hung up his helm to campaign for more safty in motorsports. In this connection I want to point on a book titled: "herbert Linge Pioneer in pole-Position", Delius Klasing publishing house. Very interesting to read and shows 20 periods of his lifetime.

This race is one of the most exciting in Le Mans history. In the end Jacky Ickx winned on Ford GT40 with only 120m advance
to Hans Hermann on Porsche 908LH.
Back to the develop of the 917LH. On this picture the racer, for its first time stands on my slot-showing how long streched
its caroch is.

After the decission to apply the inlet of the Fly-Porsche together with the engine dummy, the pilot tasted his seat. The taleblade is assamled, a not to be sneezed component in case of maximum speed of 395 km/h.
