Another racer of Hans Herrmann. It is based on a model of OCAR, rather cheap and from the processing not perfect, but ok, because everybody can screw a Bitume- or a Bauer-model, here is a little more application required. In the pictures of the Targa Florio in 1965 the car looks already very small, but as a model first! Hardly it stood the first time on the track, this question came immediately: " I thought you don’t collect models in scale 1/43?"

All what you need to build a racer is included in the kit.

At the beginning the adjustable chassis has to be adapted to the body. Really nice that it is adjustable, but is does not matter, it has to be cut and rasped and the tread width also has to be reduced. I highlighted the corresponding parts with red circles.

After the fitting of the chassis is finished, I reworked the body. Here and there a little a rasp and a filling and,
nevertheless, already it looks quite well. The window was cut out and the interior was already undercoated.

This racer was used in 1965 on the Targa Florio. The racing result speaks next time for the skill of the driver: Class
victory and 6-th place in the overall ranking.
Die Karosse ist mit MIPA geklarlackt, nun wartet alles nur noch auf die Hochzeit :-)

Attaching the window and the lights is remaining only...

And now a very special racer is finished :-)
This " OT " is based, especially the chassis, on the Fiat 850 and is only 79 cm high (or should we say low!!!). The engine is
a construction of Carlo Abarth and should win the title instead of Porsche in the mountain races. The first race toke place
in 1965 at the Mont Ventoux. A race with the total Distance of 23 km, track record from the year before at 11:72,2 minutes,
driven by Maurice Trintignant on a BRM Formula 1. However, this record held only till Gerhard Mitter on a Porsche 6 cylinder
crossed the finishe line with a 11:16,8. NEW TRACK RECORD!!! Till Hans Herrmann crossed the line: 11:16,5 minutes! If Carlos
Abarth had been there, he certainly would have crushed his driver of enthusiasm.
It was a very important year for Hans Herrmann: His first son dino was born and at the end of the year he changes again to
Porsche. Magdalena would have been very pleased about this, now, nevertheless, he is surely more often at home in Maichingen,
after 3,5 years with Abarth where it was a division for some weeks over and over again if her husband was in Italy.
Who wants still like to get to know a bit more about Carlo Abarth, read some anecdotes about this brilliant man, than I can
recommend the book "Hallo Fahrerlager" of Rainer Braun. If only I think at this book, I have tears in the eyes...;-)
